We had two great adventure, middle grade novels for 8-12 year olds this month. Both authors were kind enough to write exclusive letters to our readers and these have been included in the box.

This month we were thrilled to feature two hardcovers in the Picture Book Box. Both these very talented author/illustrators are from Australia. The Fabulous Friend Machine by Nick Bland. A charming story about a very friendly chicken named Popcorn. She insists on greeting all the animals every morning on the farm and does her best to brighten everyone’s day.

This month, we are pleased to feature three books recently published in a board book format. Birds by the award-winning husband and wife team of Kevin Henkes and illustrator Laura Dronzek. First published in hardcover in 2009, the New York Times Book Review called it “a perfect book.”
