Shipping is $12.99 in Canada and to the United States (all in Canadian Funds). Prices are per month/box. Please be aware that current shipping costs by Canada Post and couriers is extremely expensive. Most orders cost us more than $12.99 and we are currently covering the extra. We appreciate your understanding and support of Canadian small businesses.

Month-to-month subscriptions will automatically renew unless you cancel by the last day of the month for the following month’s box. 3 or 6 month subscriptions expire at the end of their term and cannot be cancelled early for a refund. If you cancel before the subscription expires, the cancellation will apply to the next renewal. An email will be sent to you a few days before renewal to remind you that your credit card will be charged on the first of the month. If you don’t want your plan to renew automatically, click the link in your email to access your account to make appropriate changes. You can also access your account from the "person" icon at the top right corner our website (next to the shopping cart). If you have difficulties getting into your account, please email us as soon as possible and we will put the cancellation through for you. Just remember, you must cancel by the last day of the month of your current term.

Our subscriptions are set up to renew automatically. If you wish to opt out, just put this in the note section when purchasing your subscription. If you miss this, we will be sending you a Confirmation/Information email after you sign up. You can reply to that email asking to opt out of the auto renew and we will update your subscription.

The cut off date is the last day of the month for the following month (for example, order by January 31st and you will be in the queue for February). If you order after the last day of the month, we will add you to the current month if we have extra boxes. Otherwise you will be in the queue for the next month.

When you sign up you will be billed immediately. After that, depending on your subscription renewal date, billing is on the 1st of the month. You'll receive an email five days prior, to let you know that your subscription is renewing and your credit card will be charged. In this email, you'll find a link to your account where you can cancel your subscription. Just be sure to cancel before the end of the month. Any problems, send us an email and we'll help you out.

Manage subscriptions

Pick "Manage subscriptions". A new login screen will appear. Enter your email address (be sure to use the email address you signed up with) and then click on "send login code". A code will be sent to your email. Put those 4 numbers in the spot provided. This will take you right into your account.  Across the top (under our logo) there will be a line that says: Home   Subscriptions   Upcoming orders   Purchase History  Shipping Addresses  Payment Methods.  Click on Payment Methods. You will be taken to another page - click on the box that says "add payment method".  Fill out the form - use the slide bar on the right of the form to get you to the bottom. When done click the "add payment method" box at the very bottom of the form.

Boxes will be shipped AROUND the 25th of each month. Once your box has shipped, you will receive an email that contains tracking information for you to follow or pass on to the recipient. Shipping in Canada and to the US will take between 4 and 14 business days. **PLEASE NOTE THAT SINCE THE PANDEMIC, THERE HAVE BEEN SOME DELAYS BY CANADA POST AND COURIERS, AS WELL AS PUBLISHERS. WEATHER MAY ALSO BE A FACTOR. SHIPMENTS MAY TAKE LONGER TO REACH YOUR YOUNG READER**. For month-to-month subscriptions, you may receive a renewal notice for your second box before you receive your first box. This unfortunately is out of our control. Yes. It's important to us that our young readers receive the right books for them. Send us an email at hello@readmarmalade.com and we will make the change as soon as possible.

Shipping in Canada is very expensive. We charge $12.99 for shipping per month/box. We will cover the shipping charges over $12.99. If the shipping charge to your address is over $20, we reserve the right to use a Canada Post prepaid box. We will however, specially wrap the order before putting it in the prepaid box.

We are thrilled to highlight the best in Canadian children’s literature but we will also select books from the UK, US and Australia.

Age groups are just a suggestion. Children learn to read at different times. The board books are best for babies and young toddlers, however you may want to start your child early on their picture book collection. If they are ready to move on from picture books but not yet ready for novels, then try our Early Reader Box. It’s perfect for children who are learning to read or are ready for a longer story. And for confident readers, we have a Middle Grade Novel Box for ages 8-12. Still not sure? Our featured books are recent publications so chances are slim that you will already have the book. They always make a perfect gift or donation to a school library. But please contact us if you have any concerns about your shipment.

The Canadian retail price of the books will usually exceed the price of the box. We purchase books from Canadian publishers and their distributors in Canadian dollars. Occasionally you will find something special in your box like an exclusive letter from an author and or illustrator. Our Christmas box (the November box) usually has something extra special!

Not a problem. Go to our Shop Now Past Boxes and Sale Boxes pages. There you'll find past boxes (if still available) and Sale Boxes. These are a one-time purchase. No subscription required.

For numerous reasons, we are currently only working with Canadian publishers and their distributors. 

We are no longer using the orange shredded paper to pack our boxes. There is currently a paper shortage and the shredded paper has doubled in price. We now use biodegradable peanuts that are starch based and decompose in water, soil and compost leaving no toxic waste. Just throw them in your sink/shower and run water over them, put them in your compost or right in your garden. They use less energy to produce and are a more environmentally friendly option. And for kids, they can use the peanuts to create logs for a great building project! Just wet the ends of the peanuts and stick them together.
